Of interest to Bret's fans we would like to report that he was invited to the San Jose Shark's rookie camp in September. He reports that this was truly an awesome experience. Bret gained much invaluable information from his stint in "the bigs". He came away being fully aware of how much more work and dedication will be required to take him on to the next level. Bret is definitely not lacking in these qualities so we expect to be fans long after Bret completes his work for the Seattle Thunderbirds.

The Seattle Thunderbirds in an October 17, 1998 fact sheet reported the following:

Bret's 8 goals in his first 4 games is the T-bird's best goal scoring start in franchise history. Also, Bret (8-1-9) and Scott Kelman (1-8-9) made history in points totals in their first 4 games, bettering the marks of Jan Hrdina (4-4-8) with 8 points in his first 4 games in 1995-96 and Peter Nedved (5-3-8) in 1989-90
